• To be involved in a continuous process of review of the ALPS Research Strategy, and the Terms of Reference of all the ALPS related Research Groups (Research Management, Research Design, BORG and e-Valuation)

• Implement the ALPS Research Strategy by directing and facilitating immediate, intermediate and long term activity in and between the partner sites

• Record and monitor the quality of research activity within the ALPS programme

• To organise peer-reviewing of proposed research projects and papers being undertaken on behalf of ALPS, and to ensure that the Research Protocols and Publication guidelines are adhered to in all research and evaluation work done on behalf of ALPS

• Investigate and disseminate opportunities for research grant funding to which ALPS can link

• Support and direct the work of the ALPS Research Design Group, the BORG and the e-Valuation working Groups.

• Support the ALPS Research Officer in their role

• To develop a plan for the embedding of a research network beyond the five year life of the ALPS programme
